L’arte del matrimonio

La felicità nel matrimonio non è qualcosa che semplicemente accade
un buon matrimonio deve essere creato.
In un matrimonio le piccole cose sono le più grandi …
e non si è mai troppo vecchi per tenersi mano nella mano.

E’ ricordarsi di dire “ti amo” almeno una volta al giorno.
Non è mai andare a dormire arrabbiati.
E’  mai darsi per scontati l’un l’altra;
perché le attenzioni non finiscano con la luna di miele,
ma continuino giorno dopo giorno, negli anni.

E’ avere in comune valori e obiettivi.
E’ stare in piedi insieme di fronte al mondo.
E formare un cerchio d’amore che accoglie in tutta la famiglia.

E’ fare le cose l’uno per l’altro, non per dovere o sacrificio,
ma con spirito di gioia autentica.

E’ apprezzare con le parole, dire grazie con modi premurosi.
Non è alla ricerca della perfezione nell’altro.
E’ coltivare la flessibilità, la pazienza,
la comprensione e l’ironia.

E’avere la capacità di perdonare e dimenticare
e creare un ambiente in cui ciascuno può crescere.
E’ trovare spazio per le cose dello spirito
e della ricerca comune del bene e del bello.
E’ stabilire un rapporto dove l’indipendenza,
la dipendenza, e l’obbligo sono alla pari.

Non è solo sposare la persona giusta, è essere la persona giusta.
E’ scoprire cio’ che il matrimonio può essere, nel meglio.

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things…
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude
of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
It is discovering what marriage can be, at its best.

An old Cherokee chief is teaching his grandson about life.

“A fight is going on inside all of us,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.”

“One is evil — he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.

The other is good — he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

This same flight is going on inside you — and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”
